BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE
My career path in massage therapy began in 1998 when I enrolled in my first massage course at the Kalamazoo Center for the Healing Arts in Kalamazoo MI. When I moved to San Diego I continued my healing arts education by enrolling in the International Professional School of Bodywork. There I took a broad array of course work including: Tui Na and Structural Integration, in addition to the traditional curriculum of Swedish, Deep Tissue and Passive Joint Manipulation. IPSB taught me the importance of an intuitive approach to bodywork. In 2006 I started over again by enrolling in a clinical program at the Soma Institute where I learned a systematic approach to bodywork.
In the years since graduation I have continued to learn, adding various techniques to bring you a uniquely intuitive yet anatomically focused experience.
My passion for the subtle and transformative power of touch has found its outlet in helping others: reduce stress and pain; have an increased range of motion; and feel more centered, both physically and mentally.
I am happy to provide an inclusive environment where everyone is respected for who they are, I have worked with men, women, and non-binary individuals. I am part of the LGBTQ+ community.
SERVICES
CLINICAL MASSAGE - This is for the individual who is experiencing pain or restriction in specific areas and wants deep focused work without the need for a full body or relaxation style massage.
SWEDISH MASSAGE - Using light to medium touch with the intention of moving blood and lymph through the circulatory and lymphatic systems to reduce stress and increase circulation. This style uses kneading, percussion, and long flowing strokes.
DEEP TISSUE - A deeper slower technique is used to release chronic tension and increase range of motion. Medium to hard pressure is applied in slow strokes or static pressure to give the muscle and connective tissue time to release. Deep tissue is an umbrella term for various, often complimentary, modalities. They may include Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, and stretching. This style is similar to the Clinical Massage but includes the full body.
PASSIVE JOINT MANIPULATION & STRETCHING - Typically applied during the course of a massage both as a method of transition and to give the body a moment of relief after more intense work. Of course, they can stand on their own for a truly uplifting massage. Gentle rocking, stretching, and compression are used throughout the entire body to reveal and open constricted areas.
